I try to get back to New Orleans as often as I can. I lived there from when I was two to when I left for college. It is always fun to get back to see friends and enjoy the unique history and architecture of the Big Easy! When I go back, it is usually with the kids so what we end up doing is pretty geared towards family-friendly outings.
We always make sure to hit up our favorite spots…Cafe du Monde, streetcar ride, Audubon Zoo, and New Orleans Aquarium.
While we were in the area, we also strolled through the French Market to check out all the vendors. I hadn’t been through there since I was a kid!
It was an absolutely gorgeous day for the zoo! It’s always fun to see the elephants, gorillas, giraffes, alligators, and monkeys!
This past visit we did a few new activities and are so glad we did:
The National WWII Museum was an incredible museum. One mistake we made was that we did not buy tickets online beforehand and had to wait in a very long line. We were planning on going to a St. Patricks Day parade when it started pouring. So it seemed like everyone else had the same idea also! I just wish Gary was with us because he would have really enjoyed it as well.
The Infinity Science Center was recommended to me by one of my besties and it was just the perfect day trip. The Science Center is just past the Louisiana border into Mississippi. My parents joined us for the day and we had a great time. We even snuck in some beach time in Biloxi!
